The Quiet Battle We All Face

Every one of us has faced moments where fear held the pen instead of our dreams. Where the voices of doubt—some internal, some inherited—told us to play small, wait until later, or make ourselves more comfortable to fit in.

And yet, what if the very discomfort you feel is your soul whispering: This isn’t who you came here to be?

Courage is not the absence of fear. It’s action in the presence of it.

That’s why courage is the catalyst for change.

As I teach in my work, your dreams won’t come true because you have everything figured out. They come true when you take steps in alignment with your soul’s truth—despite the fear, despite the doubt, despite the circumstances.

Why Courage Feels So Hard

Courage isn’t always a grand gesture. Most often, it’s quiet and personal. It’s telling the truth to yourself. Saying yes when everything in your head says wait. Choosing change over comfort, again and again.

But we all have barriers to courage—and most of them live in our own minds:

  • Thoughts that question our worthiness
  • Feelings shaped by old wounds and fears
  • Paradigms we’ve absorbed from others that keep us stuck

As I share in Chapter 2 of my book Living Your Intuitive Genius, these barriers are not facts. They’re patterns. And patterns can be changed.

Commitment Moves Mountains

One of my favorite stories is about mountaineer William H. Murray. He once said:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back… The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.”

That quote shaped the way I view courage. It’s not just about feeling brave. It’s about committing to what you know in your heart is right—and then watching the universe respond.

The Moment I Found My Courage

Years ago, I was living in a marriage that was quietly eroding my spirit. I had no plans to leave. I was confused, trapped by fear, and going through the motions.

And then one ordinary afternoon, I stopped at a gas station—and everything changed.

Through the window of the next car, I locked eyes with a little girl. In that instant, I saw my daughter. I saw the woman she was becoming, and I knew I couldn’t let her believe that what I was living was normal.

That one moment became my turning point.

I left the marriage. I didn’t know how I’d do it all. But I made a decision.

And life met me there.

Step by step, I began reclaiming my confidence, my voice, my worth.

Your Turn: What Truth Are You Avoiding?

Maybe you’re not standing at a gas pump, but I know there’s a moment in your life calling for courage right now.

What do you know is true for you—but haven’t fully committed to yet?

  • Is it a dream you keep postponing?
  • A decision you’ve been avoiding?
  • The part of you that wants to be seen?

Courage is not about leaping blindly. It’s about taking one brave step. And then another. And trusting that life will rise to meet you.
