Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mother figures out there! As we celebrate this special day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the profound lessons I’ve learned about selflessness, boundaries, and self-care, all of which were instilled in me by my incredible mom.
For much of my life, I followed in my mother’s footsteps, embodying the selfless giving she exemplified daily. But it wasn’t until I faced a battle with cancer that I realized I wasn’t truly living for myself. I was constantly striving to meet the expectations and desires of others, neglecting my well-being and purpose in the process.
It wasn’t easy to make the necessary changes. Setting boundaries in relationships that had been accustomed to taking more from me for some time brought feelings of guilt and resistance.
Thankfully, I had invaluable support from mentors who helped me stay on course and recognize the importance of self-care.
Our bodies are remarkable in the way they communicate with us. When we neglect our own needs for too long, they send us signals, urging us to slow down and listen.
Symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, and brain fog are often manifestations of our bodies crying out for attention and care.
Breaking free from ingrained patterns and routines can be challenging, but it’s essential for our well-being and fulfillment.
Learning to slow down, listen to our inner voice, and act with intentionality allows us to live more purposefully and authentically.
One of my colleagues used to say, “You go faster by slowing down.” This rings true not only in our professional lives but also in our journeys.
We can make more meaningful and impactful choices by creating space to pause, reflect, and tune into our hearts’ desires.
Living with intention means prioritizing quality over quantity and responding with grace and love rather than reacting impulsively to life’s demands.
While it may not always be easy, it’s a practice worth cultivating—one that can lead to a more fulfilling and joyful existence.
