An Easy Way To Connect With Spirit and Guide Your Year

An Easy way to Connect with Spirit and Guide Your Year

As the new year starts, you may be thinking of ways of forming new habits and creating a different type of year. Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.”

Have you thought of starting a spiritual practice? Some may say I don’t have time to sit for 20 minutes and meditate, start reading scripture, or create a new habit. Others of you may believe you don’t need anything else.

It doesn’t have to be something complicated or create struggle. It can be innately created by asking your higher Self for guidance.

The idea is to connect with your inner knowing and receive inspired thoughts to lead the way.

There is a spiritual practice that, surface level, does not appear like much, yet it is mighty.

The New Year’s White Stone Ritual

At the church I attend, there is a New Year’s practice that comes from Rev 2:17, which says, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.”

Our practice is that a word inspires us during meditation, and we write it on a white stone to keep it close to us all year long. It is an inspired (by Spirit) word of who we are called to be. The app Insight Timer has a great meditation for you to do this on your own.

My word led the way

Last year my word was courage. I was not thrilled to have been given that word, yet as I look back, I was true to it in 2022. I kept the stone on my desk, reminding me to face challenges courageously.

And as it turned out, when taking count of my achievements, it took a lot of courage to publish a book, sell my ‘forever’ home, and accomplish the work I developed along the way.

Many times, the word ‘courage’ written on the stone was all I needed to see to take the next step. In those times, I knew I was not alone but being guided and supported.

It was an incredible process, so I am sharing it with you.

Being called to ‘Create.’

My husband’s word from last year; was create. With his permission, I am sharing it because when we looked back at his 2022, his work called him to create several programs for the company he works for. The programs have become very popular because of cost efficiency, time effectiveness, and standardizing the work performed.

Coming up with your inspired word

So now, what is your inspired word? I invite you to sit quietly, breathing comfortably (not forcing the thought) but simply asking ‘what is my name this year?” And stay with the question until you find clarity with your word.

This year my process was interesting because I went through several words that all mean the same thing with a bit of variation. I wrote the one that I felt a deeper connection with on the white stone, and by staying in the question, I received an, even more clarifying word the next day.

OTHER PRACTICES TO CONSIDER

If sitting for a bit to hear the answers is not your style, here are a few other suggestions that will accomplish the same objective.

WALK IN NATURE

In my book Living Your Intuitive Genius: How to Tap Into Your Soul to Heal Your Body, Mind, and Spirit, I share a nature walk (pg. 88) that helped me receive the Spiritual message about being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Walking with Creation is a great way to connect and hear your spiritual message. You can use this ritual to connect with your 2023 word.

CREATIVE CONNECTION

Painting

On New Year’s Eve, I was invited into a creative pain process that released new ideas. You have a blank canvas and no preconceived notions of what you will paint, and you allow your intuition to pick the colors you are drawn to, the brushes to use, and whatever you are called to create.

The facilitator I met for this process says that he has workshops where people do this for several days as a retreat. My process was three hours, so it does take time, but it is a lot of fun. Above, you can see what I painted.

Journaling

I have a friend who always journals until she finds the answer or feels complete. At times she sets a 15-minute timer and journals until the timer goes off. She has found this ritual allows her to release whatever is holding her back (feeling of frustration or not at peace), and it allows her to hear the answers she seeks.  It is a creative spiritual practice you can use to come up with your word.

Knitting

Michelle Obama uses knitting as a release; she states, “It lets my hands lead the way as my mind trails behind.” I suggest that as you knit, you have the question on your mind, and I am sure the answer will be heard.

It is about releasing the need for control and being one with the Self, the Self that knows all and can help you feel more at ease with life. You feel connected as Spirit leads the way.

Your Inspiration

You noticed that painting, journaling, and knitting are all creative tools used to connect with your inner spirit. I am sure you know your device; it is just a matter of using it to receive guidance on your word for the year.

Some people use cooking, exercising, yoga, and other devices for connection. When performing yours, all you have to do is stay in the question for your word to come through, and I am sure you will receive it.

VISION WORKSHOP

Another way to connect is finding a process that can lead to your higher understanding of what you are called to do, be, create, or give. One that has been proven successful for me and others seeking higher awareness is attending a vision workshop.

In the workshop, a process engages your inner knowledge of what you are being called to create, and in the end, you leave with an action plan for the year ahead with steps to make it happen.

If you are looking for a workshop, feel invited to attend the one I have scheduled this month. Email me to receive the promo code so you can attend for free.

Change made easy

If you want to change, create change. Change does not have to be complicated; it does require your intention to make it. And a straightforward way to start is to have a word this year to guide your actions and lead the way to your higher Self.

You are called to be, do, create, give, and listen to your inner voice. These ideas will assist you with staying connected all year long and have an even more fulfilling spiritual life in 2023.
