The Answer to the Problem

“I’m going through a very hard time. I’m not going to waste this precious experience, this opportunity to become the best me.”
~ Elizabeth Lesser
How do you react when you have a problem? Do you stay awake at night, thinking about all the different possible ways things can turn out? Do you concentrate on the negative results and how they can turn out all wrong? You call yourself a worrywart and then live up to it by replaying possible bad outcomes.

This is a common behavioral response unless you make a choice to change it. I remember that when I was a single mom not having someone to bounce ideas with, I would have a movie of ideas and ways things could turn out for my children and me. Then I would have the added help from family members who would suggest fear-based opinions on my decisions. I could not help but feel defeated, uncertain, insecure, and worried.

As a certified life coach, I use tools that help me to no longer lose sleep over perceived problems and get better results. I love sharing these tools to help you live an easy and fulfilling life. Here are some steps you can use:

Perception is the problem

Know that what you are perceiving as a problem, is just that – a perceived problem. Your way of thinking is what is making it a negative event. It is your perception of the event that makes it a problem. You can choose to make it neutral and engage in a practice of partnering with Spirit to dissolve the issue. And decide that you will gain something great in the process, experience, knowledge, and awareness.

Yes, I know, it depends because there are some things that really look bad. But even those can be isolated in your thinking, so they do not charge you with negative energy. It takes rigor, but it’s doable.

Remove the emotional charge

Look at the situation before you, at an arm’s length; meaning, separate yourself from the emotion that it is causing. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “All the water in the world cannot drown you unless it gets inside of you”. Remind yourself that the perceived dilemma can be held isolated without causing drama, panic, stress, and illness. In fact, the less charged you are about the situation, the better solutions you will have. Hold a firm belief for the easy resolution without visiting the land of negativity. Have a belief that it will be so, and keep reminding yourself of that fact as negative emotions creep in.

Release control with expectation

Press pause on the negative talk in your head and release control to God, Spirit, your Source. Lean-in to prayer, not by asking and supplicating but by the simple belief, trust, and expectation that everything will work out for the best. You are used to praying and asking for divine intervention, but affirmative prayer works to provide exactly what you would like instead of waiting for God’s providence.

Affirmative prayer is about trusting that the highest good is always occurring. You may adopt an affirmation with this step, such as, “I trust, believe, and expect good will be shown here, I let go, and let God.” You are affirming that a good result will occur for the highest good of all concerned.

Stay open to the opportunity

Since this issue has been presented, what would you love the result to be? You may say, “I want it to go away.’ But realizing that the situation is now in effect, there is no going back, so what would you love as the result of this circumstance? You see, now you’ve turned the problem into an opportunity for good things to happen by shifting your thinking. You are thinking about all possible goods that can come from this “inconvenient” situation.

And now, that you have possible goods, believe that any or a few of those outcomes are probable. You are opening the door of possibility. Imagine it transforming into the good you are dreaming about. You are seeing things work out in perfect order. Your wishes are fulfilled, as you keep the vision of what you want to happen front and center.

Shifting worry

The movie in your head is no longer about the negative things that can occur, but about the possibilities, this opportunity can bring.

Change in your thinking provides answers

Because you are no longer so tightly wound up, holding on to the problem, worrying, and playing negative outcomes in your head, your energy is uplifting. It’s the energy of solutions so seek moments of inspiration for the resolution of the issue. Stay awake to hear or see the answer. Ask for guidance before you fall asleep and, in the morning, stay open to hear the answer, go out for a walk, meditate, journal, or garden, or simply follow your intuition. The solution to the problem already exists, it is ready for your download as you are loving, open, and forgiving.

Reconnect to Spirit

If you feel uneasy about staying open to hearing the answer, remember that we are all connected with our source of life. A great analogy is a lamp connected to electricity has to be turned on to emanate light. You were born connected and by reconnecting your life will get easier. In fact, that is the only problem that truly exists; that we create problems because we live a life disconnected from our Source operating our own agenda.

Discover your own way to turn on the flow of inspiration. Spirit is always communicating; it is up to you to listen and trust. You will know it is Spirit talking because it is a calm voice within. There is no chaos, no drama, no fear when you listen to Spirit’s voice within.

Rinse and Repeat

Every time you notice your thoughts drifting to the land of negativity, remind yourself of what you would love, and focus on that. Repeat your affirmation and reconnect with Spirit to be inspired on what steps to take for the resolution of the issue. Take those steps and you are in divine energy co-creative with Spirit with ease and grace.

My Personal Story

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, I used these tools to keep me in an uplifting, positive mood. If my mind ever entered a negative zone, I would use affirmations, envisioning, and the steps I mentioned above to ensure my thoughts were always expansive. I had my inner knowing that the illness was here to give me information so I could help others. Knowing that it was a temporary situation, staying curious about what I could learn, and taking time to get connected with Spirit allowed me to have a spiritual experience that I will always cherish.

The ability to stay in a positive flow of energy helped me heal faster and with few side effects and symptoms. The treatments were rigorous, but with my mindset, I was able to navigate this period with ease, love, and joy.

As you navigate life, use these tools to help you. Experiment with them and make them your own way of being. If you require assistance, I am always a call away.
