How Life Pushes You Forward with “The Silent Signals” While You Keep Trying to Fix the Past
The people who lead us shape more than just our careers—they shape how we see ourselves.
This week, I was reminded just how deep that impact runs.
In my corporate life, I had incredible bosses—leaders who made me feel honored, encouraged, and mentored. Under their leadership, I thrived. And in return, I gave my best.
But as life often does when it’s pushing us toward growth, my last boss was different. She was unsupportive, dismissive, and often gaslit me.
I knew it wasn’t about me—she had her own struggles—but her leadership made one thing clear: I had outgrown the role.
And I see this happening all the time.
Just last week, a client shared a similar experience. She had been a valued team member for years, but when leadership changed, she suddenly felt silenced. Her ideas were dismissed—yet still implemented by her boss.
If you’re in a leadership role, here’s something to think about: Are you lifting people up or shutting them down? Because the way you lead doesn’t just affect performance—it shapes confidence, self-worth, and even someone’s next chapter.
The Hidden Cost of Ignoring The Silent Signals (a.k.a Your Intuition)
I’m sharing this because there are two important lessons here.
1. Don’t Ignore the Signs
Life nudges us forward, but when we ignore those whispers, the silent signals, things start feeling off.
Before I had that last boss, I already felt the whisper that it was time to move on.
But financially, I was comfortable. So, I ignored it.
My client admitted she felt the same way long before things got difficult. But she, too, stayed—hesitating to step into the unknown.
Sound familiar?
The lesson? Trust the whispers before they turn into shouts.
2. Reclaim Your Confidence
It took just one person’s criticism to make my client question years of success and contributions.
One person.
That’s all it took for her to wonder if she was good enough.
But here’s the truth—she IS good enough. She always has been.
Now, she has a choice: stay in an environment that stifles her or recognize the silver lining.
As difficult as this boss is, they are pushing her toward something greater. Doors won’t open until she lets go. If she clings to frustration, resentment, or fear, she’ll stay stuck. But the moment she lets go and embraces what’s next, possibilities will unfold.
You are the leader of your life. The choice is yours.
Are you ready to step forward?
You can stay where you are, holding onto what no longer serves you, or you can choose to move forward—toward clarity, confidence, and alignment.
