As we stand on the precipice of the year’s end, it’s a moment to reflect on the subtle yet powerful energy dance in our lives. Transition, you see, is more than a mere passage of time; it’s the movement of energy, the ebb and flow of experiences.

It is a great time to put some things to bed and make new commitments. The thing is that sometimes, we need more time to be ready for the endings; they can be surprising and clumsy.

I recall a time in middle school when I ended a relationship ungracefully. The discomfort lingered, prompting a desire for closure and a chance to close that chapter neatly. My energy was seeping out with regret and longing for completion. Fortunately, I was able to do it in person.

Yet sometimes we have those relationships or situations where in-person is impossible, like when someone passes unexpectedly. There are unsaid sentiments that we would like to talk about.

Have you experienced the weight of an incomplete chapter? The energy tied to it can hold you back. As we move into the New Year, I invite you to think about one thing that feels incomplete in your life. Is it a relationship, a work dynamic, or a personal goal? Could you take a step to complete it?

Transition is about preparing for the shifts in our lives, ensuring we move through them gracefully.

Endings, however, are not always easy. Many of us haven’t been trained to bid farewell to one phase of life and fully embrace the new. If done poorly, a part of us gets trapped in the past. So, I ask you: What’s your incomplete, and how can you tackle it today?

Complete it with a phone call, a meeting on your calendar, or a letter that may never be delivered, but the point is for you to move your energy forward. Say what you want to say, what you would have said had you had the opportunity of a proper goodbye.

If this year has been a challenging one for you, consider closing it out by journaling. Express gratitude for the lessons learned and the opportunity to live and grow. As you bid farewell to the old, welcome new opportunities with intention. It’s a chance to shift the energy, to transition with purpose.

As the year draws closer, remember that each ending is a doorway to something new. What relationships, work dynamics, or ways of being do you want to transition this year?

Learning the art of thanking the old and welcoming the new is a practice that sets the stage for a fresh beginning.

Here’s to gracefully navigating life’s transitions and embracing the magic of Anew.
